Separate light indicator to show a presenter has clicked.
When the presenter clicks, have some sort of separate indication of this (basic green/red light) outside of PowerPoint, so you know if PowerPoint has frozen or is struggling with loading the next slide/animation.

Phil MansonThis is a great idea - and essential to maintain visibility of connections and clicks. If running POWERPOINT in Presenter View, it is may be detrimental to have to escape out to check for reconnects and click visibility. Superb idea.

Larry Testaalso the presenter absolutely needs some sort of visualfeedback to know they have pressed forward or back button. Some sort of momentary change in button to indicate it was pressed

ChrisAgreed, the small red/green arrow flashes in the app are not enough to prompt the slide technician that the user has clicked - this should be much clearer, perhaps a timer in the GUI could start counting up from 0:00 each time the user clicks, so that you know how long ago they last clicked.
